Workshops will be held again in Spring/Summer 2010!

Our Workshops

In cooperation with Think Relocation Consulting we have developed two comprehensive workshops for HR Professionals.

  • Canadian Immigration Basics
  • Relocation Basics

We hold these workshops on a regular basis throughout the year.

Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Cost: Immigration Basics - $500 CAD; Relocation Basics - $300 CAD

Canadian Immigration Basics:
Our Immigration Basics workshop has been designed to cover the theoretical and the practical.  We’ll give you enough information to be dangerously knowledgeable, but not overwhelmed. Our focus is enabling you to take control of your company’s immigration needs, whether it’s by building this expertise in-house, or knowing enough to effectively manage your external counsel.

The Topics:
Canadian work permits: when you need one, what are your options, and how to get one, including:

  • Business visitors
  • Labour market opinions
  • IT Workers
  • NAFTA Professionals
  • Intra-company transferees
  • BC Provincial Nominee Program

Other immigration issues that arise for HR practitioners, such as:

  • Spousal work permits
  • Study permits
  • Permanent residence

Topics tailored to the group or by special request of the group.

The Workshop comes with a hefty, but simple reference guide and one hour of consulting services to discuss specific issues and put the theory into practice.

Relocation Basics:
In this workshop we tackle the complex and potentially mind-boggling world of Relocation. We’ll look at the 3 P’s of developing a killer relocation program – from Philosophy to Policy to how it works in Practice.  And then we’ll turn the tables and look at it from the candidate’s perspective to make sure you’re prepared to answer their tough questions. We’re looking for keen HR Professionals relocating employees to Canada who want to simplify this complicated topic. Our focus is on giving you the tools to make your company’s relocation and recruiting programs even better.  Expect discussion and lively examples (your contributions welcomed!) in this session.

The Topics:
Developing your Relocation Program

  • Defining your company’s Relocation Philosophy:  what are your guiding principles?
  • Building your Relocation Policy:  what options are there, what are other companies doing and how much does it cost?
  • Putting your philosophy and policy into Practice:  internal processes and tools in implementation

The Candidate’s Experience

  • Your approach
  • Your actions
